ENYIMBA ECONOMIC CITY WILL CLOSE ECONOMIC GAP

The Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, has said that Enyimba economic city in Aba was designed to close economic gap in the South-East and South-South region of the country.
Ikpeazu, who disclosed this on the News Agency of Nigeria Forum in Abuja, said that the private-sector-driven city was an audacious project.

ENYIMBA ECONOMIC CITY MEETS WITH AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT BANK ON AREAS OF POSSIBLE COLLABORATION

The management of Enyimba Economic City Development Company Limited (EECD) met with African Development Bank Group (ADB) on March 20, 2018 at ADB office in Abuja to discuss area of possible collaboration in the development of Enyimba Economic City.

C Darl Uzu, the Managing Director of EECD in giving an overview of Enyimba Economic City described it as a regional integrative project on approximately 9803 Hectares comprising four Industrial Parks, Logistics / Inland ports, Trailer Parks, Wholesale Market, Entertainment, Medical, Education, Airport and Life style residential cities created to leverage on the opportunities Nigeria offers to bring about job creation and regional development through industrialization.

The EECD project is a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) under the Made in Nigeria for Export (MINE) programme of Federal Government of Nigeria.  It is developed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) of a successful entrepreneurial company represented by Crown Realties Plc, Abia State Government and Federal Government of Nigeria, with private sector providing leadership.

 

Mr Emmanuel Akinwumi a Private Sector Specialist in African Development Bank Group noted that the project is an interesting one which ADB will like to be associated with while requesting for time review the feasibility report further so as they fully understand where they can come in.

ENYIMBA ECONOMIC CITY PRESENTED TO SOUTH EAST GOVERNORS FORUM

On the South East Governors Forum Meeting of Sunday March 11, 2018, the Enyimba Economic City Project was presented to secure the buy in of all the Governors of South East Nigeria.

Speaking during the meeting Mr C Darl Uzu, the Managing Director of Enyimba Economic City Development Company Limited  said “We are 100% convinced that Enyimba Economic City will form an important node for the new economy of the South East and South South, when combined with the initiatives of SEREDEC, the various State Governments which will create and link development nodes of Nnewi, Onitsha, Enugu, Abakiliki, Owerri, Uyo, Port Harcourt and so on”.

The Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Governor Okezie Ikpeazu also added that the project was beyond Abia and encouraged his colleagues to offer every necessary support to make the project a reality.

Other Governors in the forum were His Excellency the Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, His Excellency the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Nweze Umahi and His Excellency the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere who represented Imo State Governor.
